“Have you ever been in love, Severus?” Draco asked. He pushed the bed covers down from his shoulders to his waist and lounged against the plush headboard.
Severus turned over to look at Draco, leaning his chin on his hand. “Once, a very long time ago.”
“Who was she?” Draco asked, in a faked attempt at nonchalance. “Or he for that matter.”
Severus looked at Draco shrewdly. “Her name was Lily, we were at school together.”
“You were into girls once then?” Draco teased.
Severus raised an eyebrow. “So it seems.”
The two men lay in bed together for a few minutes, a comfortable silence stretching between them before Draco sat up quickly.
“Lily?” he said. “Lily fucking Potter.”
“She was Lily Evans when I knew her,” Severus said calmly.
“Dear God, I thought you had taste,” Draco said tactlessly and he began to laugh in his surprise.
Severus sneered. “I think it is obvious from the creature which currently occupies my bed, that I do not.”
Draco laughed hollowly. “I suppose I deserved that. Do you still think of her Severus?” he asked coyly.
Severus glanced at Draco, who peered at Severus in a very innocent Lolita-esque manner. “If what you’re asking is whether I imagine you are her, then no, I do not. I do however think of her, I cannot ever imagine a time where I forget her. She was very dear to me.”
“I’m sure she was,” Draco murmured. He let the topic of conversation die. It was not one which particularly bothered him. What if Severus did love Lily Potter? She was dead, and here Draco was, alive and in his bed, willing to fold beneath Severus and writhe under his ministrations. He knew there was no doubt that if need be, he could make Severus forget Lily fucking Potter.
